Highlights

Cider Lovers Paradise

Cider Lovers Paradise

If you like cider, you will love this tour. We will take you right to the farms and meet the people who make it. Whilst on tour, we will pay a visit to a number of cider farms including: Haywood Farm where cider maker, Tom Bray, has been applying his trade for the last 20 years; however, his family have been doing it since 1919 and cider has been produced on the farm’s granite cider press for centuries, supplying the families and laborers with the West country’s favorite drink. No cider tour would be complete without a visit to Roger Wilkins of LANDS END Cider Farm, He and his family have been producing proper traditional cider on their farm in Mudgley Somerset for nigh on 1,000 years – or so it seems to Roger. A real working farm with no modern shop layout – just barrels in the cider barn full of 5x world champion cider – plus wonderful tasting Cheddar and Stilton cheese. Other tour visits include: -Thatchers Cider on Myrtle Farm in Winscombe -Perrys Cider Mill and old farmhouse in Ilminster -Harrys Cider Company, a traditional favorite and great personal tour in Langport -Crackington Cider Co, small batch artisan cider in Bude -Hedgers Cider House in Bristol -Somerset Cider Brandy Co. on Burrow Hill

Cornwall

Cornwall

We will be traveling through the exquisite west country of England, through breath taking vistas to our home for 4 nights on the coast line of Cornwall. From St Agnes, we will explore some of Cornwall’s amazing sites, incredible history, beautiful coastline and heralded Cider Farms. We will cross the causeway where a legendary giant once walked. Follow in the footsteps of pilgrims, or boat hop to an island where modern life meets layers of history. Discover an evocative castle, a sub-tropical garden paradise and a close-knit island community. We will dive into the history, myth and stunning scenery at Tintagel Castle on Cornwall's rugged north coast. Inextricably linked with the legend of King Arthur, for centuries this dramatic castle and coastline has fired the imaginations of writers, artists, and even the brother of a king. Now it's your turn to be inspired. We will immerse ourselves in the art of cider making, take a ride through the orchards and sample the craft right at the farm. Between visits to cider farms, we will visit old harbors and fishing villages that have changed very little over the years. In many of them, it is like stepping back in time. Time for a pint in the 500-year-old Pub! We can venture in to our very own Cornish jungle and explore some of the most majestic gardens in Britain at the Lost Gardens of Heligan. The group will love the beauty of Boscastle and its famous Harbor, as well as magical walks to St. Nectans Glen, and the dramatic Cheddar Gorge. Cheddar Gorge is a beautiful limestone gorge with cliffs full of wild goats and caves full of aging cheese. It’s definitely a don’t miss stop for tasting local fare and filling your camera with beautiful photos. In between cider visits, we will stop in Boscastle, a small fishing village which offers a beautiful view of the hills and a quaint stop. Fun fact: Boscastle has also been known as the town of witches and the English equivalent of Salem, Massachusetts. Weather permitting, we will lead a hike down to the magical St. Nectan’s Glen an amazing waterfall in the woods. You won’t want to miss the penny trees and hidden fairy homes along the walk.

Somerset

Somerset

Tucked between the Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels you’ll find England’s smallest city – Wells. Made a city thanks to its grand gothic cathedral, Wells is a charming spot, with cobbled streets lined with medieval buildings, tearooms, pubs and old-fashioned shops. It also had a taste of movie stardom as the town of Sandford in the film, Hot Fuzz. We will be calling Wells home for the next 4 nights. Whilst in Somerset, we will take in several Cider farm/making visits including Thatchers, Perrys, Somerset Cider Brandy Co, and one of our favorites-Harrys. We will also have the opportunity to spend some time exploring the delights of Glastonbury, possibly the quirkiest town in England which is steeped in history, myth and legend. We can discover the ley lines and legends of the Glastonbury Tor. A focal point for a wealth of local lore. In Celtic legend, it is the home of Arawn, king of the underworld and lord of the faeries. A more famous legend identifies it as the mythic Isle of Avalon where King Arthur sleeps until his country calls again. We will meander through the spectacular Cheddar Gorge and Caves. Cheddar Gorge is not only one of Britain's most spectacular natural landmarks, it is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and a site of special scientific interest. The Gorge boasts awe-inspiring cliffs and extraordinary subterranean stalactite show caves, plus it holds many fascinating secrets about our prehistoric ancestors.

Glastonbury

Glastonbury

We will have the opportunity to spend some time exploring the delights of Glastonbury, possibly the quirkiest town in England which is steeped in history, myth and legend. We can discover the ley lines and legends of the Glastonbury Tor and if anyone is interested, the famous Egg Stone. A focal point for a wealth of local lore. In Celtic legend, it is the home of Arawn, king of the underworld and lord of the faeries. A more famous legend identifies it as the mythic Isle of Avalon where King Arthur sleeps until his country calls again. You will also have time to explore the shops, ancient pubs and other historic sites like the Tor, Chalice Well, Red Well, White Well, and the Glastonbury Abby originally built in the 8th Century and the reputed burial site of King Arthur himself but no doubt a site of great pilgrimage and interest.

City of Bath

City of Bath

We will visit Bath, an elegant city full of traditional heritage, contemporary culture, green spaces and a few surprises. Built for pleasure and relaxation, beautiful Bath has been a wellbeing destination since Roman times. The waters are still a big draw. Other than cider, the Bath pubs will be serving a classic Somerset ale from Butcombe.

Tintagel

Tintagel

Tintagel is a medieval fortification located on a peninsula with steep cliffs and amazing views. Archaeologists continue to find more about this area which is toted as being the birthplace of King Arthur. See Merlin's cave for a glimpse into the stories where King Arthur learned from the Great Magician lost to time but definitely not forgotten. We will be able to walk and see the remains of the ancient castle, parts of the village and if the tide is low you can descend to the beach put a toe in the water and walk through the famous Merlin Cave and its mystical energy.

Lost Gardens of Heligan

Lost Gardens of Heligan

The gardens were part of a now mysterious estate during the Victorian age and then were lost to time after World War I when the former gardners were sent off to war and many didn't return. The gardens were redicovered in 1990 and have been brought back to life. With over 200 Acres of spectacular gardens to explore, this is a must see. While you are there, don't miss out on the tea room for a cuppa with scones and clotted cream

Reviews

We have shared a number of travel experiences with Graeme and Michelle over the last few years and have enjoyed each one. The small group size and their intimate knowledge of the people and places make the experience much more personal than most other tours. They also go out of there way to accommodate those on the tour when the unexpected arises. Something that Graeme and Michelle do very well, that other tours often miss, is the balance they strike on their itineraries between group time and free time, allowing you time to explore on your own. We plan to continue traveling with Radiant-Moments in the future and highly recommend these tours to anybody looking to travel in a small group experience.
